The Camp store wasn't open (because of Covid), but ice and firewood were available on honor system. Not all sites would be accessible to larger units though. Theres something for everyone at Elk Neck State Park: with over 2000 acres of tightly wound mountain biking trails, sandy beaches, marshlands, and more. We saw some big rigs there and some pull-thru sites too. With over 2,188 acres, you could spend an entire day. Water was clean and calm, great for little children. If you’ve never visited Elk Neck State Park, you may want to add it to your must-visit list for the following reasons. The Northeast loop has full hookups with pets allowed. Elk Neck State Park however, is by far one of the most underrated parks in our state. There were some nice cabins in our loop also with bunks, a bed and AC. I had to run my front wheel over a 5" tall tree stump to get into site 226. Some sites would have been hard to maneuver into also. Sites are kinda close together and some wouldn't have fit our 28 ft travel trailer. Outdoors dishwashing area behind the washroom. The remaining 200 sites are standard tent sites and are spread around six loops. If you want to spend a few days RV camping at Elk Neck State Park, you're in luck. We'll discuss the facilities in the Elk River Camping Area in more detail in the next section, but this campground is found in the eastern area of the park and also features a nature center, park store, and kids' playground. Hikers are also well catered for with easy access to the four-mile Beaver Marsh Trail and the three-mile White Banks Trail, both of which offer challenging treks through the woods and marshlands of the park. Two fishing piers are also provided here if you'd like to cast a line without leaving dry land, with bass the main species targeted. If you want to launch a boat on the Elk River, Rogues Harbor is an easy place to do it. Picnic tables, grills, restrooms, and cold showers complete the list of facilities here. Swimmers looking to escape the summer heat can enjoy easy access to the Chesapeake Bay's Susquehanna Flats, while there's also a launching area for people wanting to take to the water on a canoe or kayak. The trail head begins in the forest and then moves down close to the pond and circles. The trail offers a variety of different ecosystems and the scenery changes quickly as you go. This trail is also listed as the orange trail on the Elk Neck trail map. This day-use area is found in the western area of Elk Neck State Park and is the place to go if you want to indulge in any water sports. The Beaver Marsh Trail makes a full loop of the beaver marsh pond at Elk Neck State Park.
